Frequently asked questions

Will I lose my social benefits and pension if I refund my taxes?

No!
Tax refund is a right of every worker in Netherlands who has paid income tax and is eligible for relief. Tax refund does not prevent future employment, your pension, or other social benefits!

Can I refund my taxes if I was a seasonal worker?

Yes!
You fall under the tax relief regime and are eligible for a refund.

How is the money paid out?

You can request two ways of paying out your money.

- Cash (up to 9 thousand BGN)
- By bank transfer

How long does this process take?

For a complete and accurate preparation of your tax assessment, we need 1 week. It is important to note that this period starts after signing all documents.

For verification and transfer of your taxes from Netherlands, the official deadline is 6 months, but many of our clients receive their money between 1 and 3 months.

For which year can I refund my taxes?

Tax refund starts one year back, or for 2025 taxes can be refunded in 2026.

In total, for up to 5 years back, we can refund if you have receivables.

How much can you get back from a tax return?

The maximum amount of taxes you can recover from Netherlands is the total amount of all taxes paid by your employer from your salary. Based on the cases we have handled, we estimate that the average tax refund amount for work in Netherlands is approximately 780 euros. However, the final refund amount depends on many factors, including the amount of income, the amount of tax payments made, and applicable tax reliefs.

How long does it take to get a tax refund from Netherlands?

The waiting time for a tax refund from Netherlands mainly depends on the workload of the tax office where the tax return is filed. In the cases we handle, the time from filing the application at the tax office to receiving a decision is usually 2-6 months.

It is also important not to forget the additional steps that must be taken before submitting your documents to the Finanzamt. If your main residence is outside Netherlands (e.g., due to spouse, children, or family) and you want to take advantage of various available tax reliefs, it will be necessary to obtain an income certificate from the tax office in your country of residence. Keep in mind that obtaining such a certificate can take several weeks.

I don't have a tax card – can you help me refund my taxes from the Netherlands?

If you do not have the necessary documents, you can still receive your tax refund from the Netherlands. We will obtain the necessary documents from your employer and then refund your taxes.
The lack of proper documents does not mean you cannot get a tax refund from the Netherlands. However, it is best to inform your employer while working in the Netherlands that you will need a tax card.
You can also write a letter to your employer requesting a duplicate, specifying the period of employment.
If you are unable to obtain the necessary document for settlement yourself, our company can do this on your behalf by contacting your employer or directly with the Dutch tax office. To facilitate this, please send us the exact name, address, and contact information of the company where you were employed.

How much tax will I get back?

The tax refund depends on several factors such as your salary, months of work, and what tax relief regimes you are eligible for.

*On average, a client who worked for 4 months as a seasonal worker with a net salary of 1800 Euro recovers 1860 Euro when filing a tax return from our side.*

We can estimate approximately how much you would recover in the process of requesting the service and upon providing an annual payslip from :country called Jaaropgave.

What do I need to provide to start this process?

All we need is your social security number (BSN) for the Netherlands and some personal information, such as your full name. In some cases, you will need to obtain a certificate issued for the EU/EEA by the National Revenue Agency, and we will assist you with this.
